Spores sub-spherical, broadly ellipsoidal, angular in some views, coarsely warty (4.5-7)x(3.5-5) µm2. Basidia club shaped, four spored. Gill edge cystidia cylindrical. Cap cuticle consisting of interwoven short celled hyphae about 4-8 µm wide.

Notes

In my experience, the cap is a pale pink when growing with deciduous trees and dark reddish brown cap with conifers. I do not know if this is a general rule. This mushroom might represent a species complex.
